CommCare Diff is a local, read-only Chrome extension for comparing saved CommCare application definitions.

Data the extension handles

The extension reads the active CommCare application URL and application-definition JSON needed to produce a comparison. Application definitions can contain programme logic and configuration. The extension does not request cases, submissions, reports, or patient records.

How data is used

Application data is processed only inside the user's browser to show the requested comparison, create an optional local snapshot, or export a report requested by the user.

Storage and retention

Optional snapshots are stored in chrome.storage.local. The extension keeps at most three snapshots per application. Chrome removes this data when the user uninstalls the extension or clears its extension data.

Sharing and transmission

The extension does not send application data, URLs, snapshots, usage data, or reports to the developer or any third party. It has no analytics, advertising, remote code, or developer-operated server. It uses the user's existing CommCare session but does not read or store passwords, cookies, or authorization tokens.

User choices

Saving a snapshot and exporting a Markdown report require an explicit user action. Users can delete locally stored extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing its data in Chrome.

Limited Use

The use of information received through Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes

If the extension's data practices change, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the changed practices are released.
